Justin Timberlake Western Wall Instagram Picture, Sparks Controversy
Maybe he should have been briefed before the hashtag? Justin Timberlake posted a picture of himself via Instagram, Wednesday, May 28, posing in front of the Western Wall in Jerusalem's Old City.
The global pop star, 33, in town for his 20/20 Experience World Tour stop in Tel Aviv, was photographed from the back, resting his hands and head against the Kotel. "The Holy Land… What an experience," he wrote in his caption. "I will never forget this day."
Though there have been upwards of 250,000 likes, the serene moment of Timberlake praying at Judaism's most significant standing structure was quickly diminished by his use of the hashtag "#Israel."
"Correction," one outraged follower wrote in response to the pic. "You are in Palestine not israel #disapointed." Another user wrote, "There was never an Israel, there was always Palestine."

Jessica Biel's husband did not address his controversial hashtag in a follow-up Instagram post. Instead, Timberlake continued his ongoing bromance with Jimmy Fallon: The singer regrammed a picture posted by the Late Night show host, of a golf ball scrawled with Timberlake's name.
"So funny," he replied to Fallon. "I was just telling someone how my name was on your balls."
